Who Pays For Services

Who Pays For These Services?

The Arc of Putnam County is a provider agency for Florida’s Agency for Persons with Disabilities. In that role, the state agency identifies individuals that meet their criteria for a covered intellectual and/or developmental disability and, within the limitations of available funds, will pay The Arc for their services. The money comes from a combination of Federal and State funds commonly referred to as the Medicaid Waiver.

To be eligible for state funding through the Medicaid Waiver an individual must have a qualifying disability and be a client of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. Qualifying disabilities include intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and Prader Willi Syndrome. The disability must have been present prior to age 18.

If you, or the person you represent, is currently a client of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities and funded through the Medicaid Waiver and you are interested in services provided by The Arc of Putnam County, you should contact your Support Coordinator.

If you, or the person you represent, are not a client of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, you can apply by telephone. The number in Area 3 (Palatka and surrounding counties) is 1-888-665-4955. The number for other areas can be found at the agency’s website, apdcares.org. APD is currently enrolling new individuals as clients but in most cases there is a multi-year long waiting list before services are actually funded. Exceptions can be made for people who meet state criteria for being in crisis. Even though funding may not be readily available, it is important to sign up with APD now because length of time on the waiting list is one factor in determining who gets funded.

The Arc of Putnam County also accepts alternative funding for services including private funding.
